Three things to know (for cinephiles only)
1. A little bit of Hollywood at S.Giovanni in Persiceto
There is a square, at the end of via Betlemme whose houses have been painted in trompe l’oeil by Gino Pellegrini, a famous Hollywood set designer who worked on many films including Kubrik’s “2001: A Space Odyssey” and Hitchcock’s “The birds”.
2. “Luisona” is from Sant’Agata Bolognese
The doyenne of pasta, immortalised by Stefano Benni in his novel “Bar Sport”, made her film début here in a bar in the centre of the town in 2008, directed by Massimo Martelli.
3. Pupi Avati’s passion for Emilia-Romagna
There is only one great Mazurka in the history of Italian cinema. It’s the 1974 “Mazurka del barone della santa e del fico fiorone” set in Crevalcore by the maestro from Bologna, Pupi Avati. dal Maestro bolognese Pupi Avati.
