Rangoni Palace

Rangoni Palace

Located near the bridge on the Panaro river, between Casoni and Bomporto, the palace is mentioned in some documents as early as 1326. The strategic importance of the building and its lords, the Rangoni family, was such that, between the 16th and 18th centuries, it was continuously used as a summer residence by the Este family, Dukes of Ferrara and later of Modena. In this palace, in 1696, Duke Rinaldo I of Modena married the Duchess of Brunswick. The building, owned by the Rangoni family since 1370, consists of two contiguous palaces that once formed a closed courtyard articulated in three sections. The new palace was initiated by the same family in 1611 but was never completed.
